Perspective

Engineering starts outside the demo.

My background is in HVAC and construction: crews, job sites, and work that has to hold up beyond ideal conditions. Hidden state, unclear handoffs, and failures have consequences in field work. That perspective informs how I approach software.

I care about explicit contracts, visible execution state, and failure handling that preserves what happened. The work below shows how I explore those concerns—and what remains unverified.

How I think

Working principles

These are my current engineering principles: ideas I use to guide decisions and continue to question.

  1. Intelligence may be probabilistic; authority should be explicit.

    Separate what a system proposes from what it is allowed to do.

  2. Actions should leave inspectable evidence.

    Decisions and outcomes should remain understandable outside the process that produced them.

  3. Failure should preserve useful state.

    Leave enough context to understand what happened and decide what comes next.

  4. Boundaries should preserve meaning.

    Make consequential exchanges explicit without unnecessarily constraining intelligence inside the boundary.

When is a decision allowed to act?

SHAD0W

A decision derived from a completed bar cannot execute against that same close. I separate chronological eligibility, lifecycle simulation, execution costs, and independent paper-risk admission.

A new wake event cancels the active turn and returns the host to listening. Shared inference services own model instances; bounded audio buffers constrain memory as the thin client streams audio.

Interruption tests use mocked services. The physical wake → transcription → response loop remains unverified.

Field workflow prototype

Need three, have one → stage one and pick up two. Pure domain logic aggregates demand and computes staging and shortfalls separately from file adapters and the UI.

Validation and JSON/PDF workflow evidence is historical at 517fc82. Published main d1f4d53 has a known current CSV integration regression; current end-to-end behavior and field outcomes are not claimed.
